Being a game master is neat. For a whole lot of reasons, of course, but one of my favorites is that there are absolutely no barriers.
Let’s say you love baseball. Want to play baseball? You need equipment and training and a league and a good team or it kind of sucks. Want to be one of the best ballplayers ever? It could happen, but it takes a lot more than work and practice.
Not so with D&D. You want to play D&D? Cool. Grab a friend and the free rules and start. Want to get better? There are hundreds of free resources out there and new ones coming out each day.
There’s absolutely nothing stopping you from being one of the best game masters in the world … except you. Learn, study, ask questions, and practice parts of your game-running that you know need work.
Commit to your craft as a DM! It’s well worth it. π
