Focus on a Tree

As DMs, we envision our games being amazing stories, where every player feels like their character is special and important and has cool, unique story lines and moments.

In practice, that’s rather difficult to achieve.

In the pressure of preparing for a session, it’s easy to forget to try to make each player feel special. We lose sight of the trees because of the forest, so to speak.

As you prep your next session, try something: Pick a single player character you’d like to highlight that session. Maybe craft an encounter around that character’s strength. Or maybe a piece of loot tied into their backstory. Or maybe an NPC that makes conversation with them in particular.

Basically, focus on a tree.
