I’m not sure if you’ve seen it, but there’s a video going around of country star Thomas Rhett having a stadium sing happy birthday to a concert-goer.
Do that for your players. No, not sing happy birthday. I mean maybe. You do you.
But make your players feel special.
For your next session, think ahead of time about which of your players you want to highlight that night.
How can you make their character the star of the show?
Doesn’t have to be a big fancy thing, like a stadium singing happy birthday. Just the opportunity for the bard to persuade someone, or the barbarian to grapple something can be enough, honestly.
Just make a player feel special, like their character mattered that session.
Rinse and repeat.
