For a minute or two on Friday, I was an angry DM. Not THE Angry GM. An angry DM.
Without getting into it, one of my players decided that something she did didn’t actually happen, a decision that greatly impacted what was about to happen at the table.
It seriously annoyed me, and I had a couple options.
- Insist that the Thing Did Happen.
- Let her have it and move along.
I admit the game quality dropped immensely after the incident, as I wasn’t particularly in the mood for roleplaying some grateful dwarves, but I picked number 2 and kept moving.
If I was DMing an AL game with some strangers, I’d probably pick number 1. But my home game is with friends and family, and that, to me, is more important. I’m definitely not a non-confrontational person, but … it’s a game.
Verisimilitude is important, and keeping things As They Happen is vital to that.
But … it’s a game.
Skeleton of the Gilded Cage (Dyson’s Dodecahedron) <- really freakin’ cool map & idea!
