Make Your Players Care

I haven’t followed football all year, so last night I decided I’d root for Kansas City because they have better BBQ nearby and a dude named “Breeland.” As a Tolkien fan, that pretty much sealed the deal.

The point is, people make decisions and get attached to things and people and football teams for the dumbest reasons.

Use that to your advantage as a DM.

You can go straight for the heart strings like the Google commercial if you want, but honestly any reason for your players to care about your world is a good reason.

NPCs, particularly older or younger ones, just so happen to work great.

Give your players (and their characters) someone to root for and someone to care about, and you just might hit a home run.

Yay sportsball!
