I have a number of Spotify playlists for my game sessions. Sometimes I use them, sometimes I don’t.
But most of them are somewhat similar-sounding, especially the combat lists. Epic-ish sounding cinematic scores and whatnot.
But recently I was a player in a game where the DM put on something totally different for combat music. It was some sort of heavy techno thing … I felt like I was in TRON.
And it was cool. And it fit.
If you use music for your games (and if you don’t you should totally check it out), try mixing it up a bit here and there. Put on something totally different, and it can really change the feel of the encounter.
