More and more often, I’m getting questions from new DMs asking me for advice on how to get started.
Without sounding mean or like That Guy, Google and YouTube are your friends!
I always recommend folks start on YouTube with Matt Colville’s “Running the Game” series, and Satine Phoenix and Matt Mercer’s DM tips series.
Once you’re not actively panicking behind the screen, I can’t speak highly enough of The Angry GM’s website—it’s worth reading every single article on there, and it’ll give you a massive load of insight into what exactly you need to improve to become a better DM.
Beyond that, there’s an absolute ton of resources out there that’ll give you a good start. All you have to do is look!
(Oh yeah, also I have a website with these emails all archived. That too.)
