Player-Driven Worldbuilding

Often as DMs, it’s easy to slip into being possessive of “our” worlds.

We build something, cherish it and heaven forbid our players mess with it.

But instead, what if we involve our players in that worldbuilding? Even if you’re playing hardcover WotC modules set in the Forgotten Realms, remember: they’re your Forgotten Realms. Plural “your.”

As you prep for your next game, think about an opportunity – even something simple like naming an NPC or a town – that you could give your players to get involved in building and fleshing out your world.

Now get out there and tell a story!

Peace,
