You’re the One That I Want

One of the most useful things you can have your players provide you with is a motivation. What’s their character’s number one goal?

For that matter, what’s your player’s motivation?

One player might love puzzles and loves feeling smart at the table, while their character wants to avenge the murder of their mentor, for example.

It’s easy for players to identify their character’s motivation, but you’ll have to observe for yourself to see what the player’s motivation is.

Either way, both are handy to have around for reference as you plan out your sessions.
